Watercolour is my favorite medium. I especially like to give this medium the freedom of movement and observe
the wonderful ‘flaring effects’ and colours that can be achieved with watercolour. I love colour but do not tend to
mix my palette very much, instead I tend to use them straight from the tube. I also use Acrylic paint and
Calligraphy inks. I use Acrylics when painting large size commissions.
I do paint in oils although I use this medium infrequently unless a client specifically requests this medium.
When painting I like to ‘push the envelope’ as I find it very enjoyable and challenging. Abstract Art is my favourite
genre and I fully intend to expand on this style in the future. When I paint abstract I often use Collage to provide
texture and depth. Like many artists I see the world as a series of shapes. I am fairly modern in my approach to
art and am in no way a ‘traditionalist’. I feel that the rules that govern art are there to be broken, especially if it
makes the painting work. I work mainly in watercolour but I am in no way a purist and when I do commissions I
believe that it is far more important to make your picture work for you by whatever means at my disposal.
